Kawasaki Z900 Review, Specifications, Indian Price, Highlights

Kawasaki has launched the new Z900 in India, and the bike has been priced at Rs 9 lakh with accessories at ex-showroom, Delhi. The new Z900 replaces it’s predecessor the Kawasaki Z800 which was among the most popular bikes from the Japanese brands in our Country. So one may ask what’s new and the answer is a lot. It has received both mechanical and cosmetic updates. The styling of the bike is inspired from the sinister-looking Kawasaki Z1000.  Also See:– Triumph Street Scrambler Launched In India At Rs 8.1 Lakh

Kawasaki Z900 features sharp and sporty lines with an edgy headlamp, while the contrast green finish on the trellis frame looks cool. The instrument console is also new, and it now sports a semi-digital instrument cluster with an analogue tachometer. The Kawasaki Z900 will be brought to India via the CBU route and is expected to carry a premium of close to Rs 1 lakh over the Z800.

Another big update is that the Kawasaki Z900 is a massive 20kg lighter than its predecessor. Powering the Japanese performance motorcycle is a new 948cc,  in line four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that is based on the Z1000’s motor. The engine churns out 125PS of power and 99Nm of peak torque which is a considerable hike concerning the older bike. Power is transferred to the rear wheel via a 6-speed gearbox whose ratios have been modified to offer better low-end and mid-range performance. Slipper clutch also makes its debut on the new motorcycle and is a useful addition.

The bike also sports a new trellis frame which Kawasaki claims have helped in reducing the kerb weight and has also improved the handling dynamics of the motorcycle. Suspension duties are handled by 41mm inverted front forks and a horizontally-mounted mono-shock at bikes rear. Braking is done by disc brakes on both ends, while Nissin ABS is standard. The Kawasaki Z900 competes against the upcoming 2017 models Ducati Monster 821 and Triumph Street Triple.
